Aim
Set up in 1952, EUROSAC is an Association between the European manufacturers of multiwall paper sack manufacturers for the promotion and development of the paper sack industry in Europe.
Members
About 80 % of the European paper sack manufacturers, situated in 25 different European countries, co-operate in Eurosac today. They produce more than 5 billion sacks a year, thus transforming about 750 thousand tons of paper.
Outside Europe, sack manufacturers from all different continents have joined the federation as corresponding members. Eurosac also counts 22 sympathising members who are suppliers to the paper sack industry like paper, machine, ink or glue manufacturers.
Organisation
Under the authority of its chairman and a secretariat in Paris the Eurosac statutes provide for the General Assembly (meetings once a year) and the Executive Board (meetings about every two months). The next annual meeting will take place in June 2010 in Stockholm, Sweden.
In addition to the small fix structure, competent working groups are temporarily created to work on specific topics like Problems related to printing. The results are generally presented in seminars or workshops.
Action
Via an external independent consultant, Eurosac delivers reliable and detailed information on the paper sack market for its ordinary members every three months.
The organisation works closely with CEPI Eurokraft, the Federation of European Kraft Paper Producers, in the ESPACE Programme (Environmental Strategy Program and Communication Eurosac/CEPI Eurokraft) on lobbying and research. Together they have realized e.g. several LCAs (Life Cycle Analysis).
Eurosac is an active member in European paper packaging industry networks like the PPCG (Paper Packaging Co-ordination Group) and CITPA (International Confederation of Paper and Board Converters in Europe). These networks assure the liaison with the European authorities in Brussels and follow up the development of European regulations likely to affect the multiwall paper sack industry.
